Welcome to the grand finale, a magical journey that concludes in the Regents Gallery at Belvoir Castle! Quite fittingly, the 1898 rendition of the song, aligning with Belvoir Castle's emblem, presents 'A very pretty PEACOCK upon a pear tree' as the first gift.
Behold Belvoir's very own majestic Peacock, sharing the spotlight with the partridge in a spectacularly lit pear tree, while overhead, birds soar in a mesmerising layered light projection. In a nod to Tudor revelries, we unveil the revellers who discovered the bean and pea in the Twelfth Night cake from the State Dining Room! Standing on either side of the tree are the Lord and Lady of Misrule, affectionately known as King Bean and Queen Pea, crowned for the night and presiding over all, including the actual King and Queen if they were in court!
Here's a secret for you: our enchanting Peacock is more than just a dazzling display; it is the protector of magic within Belvoir Castle. Its vibrant plumes symbolise the enchantment that lingers within these storied walls.
As our enchanting Twelve Days of Christmas tour within these historic walls comes to an end, let the merriment linger. Carry the festive spirit with you to our Christmas shop situated the Old Kitchen—a treasure trove of gifts and ornaments awaits your discovery.
